Cologne launch filmConcept, self-initiated

NOCTARE

A 13-second launch film for a fictional cologne: a cleaved black-glass bottle, liquid amber and one slow-motion spray burst, lit like a jeweller’s window at midnight.

What we made

  • Bottle, cap & pump modelled from scratch
  • Glass, amber liquid, basalt & brass materials
  • Condensation drops on the glass
  • Slow-motion spray simulation
  • 5-shot camera animation & light sweeps
  • Colour grade, deflicker & end card

The project

The story behind NOCTARE.

01

The idea

NOCTARE is a fictional cologne brand (the name comes from the Latin for ‘of the night’) with a tagline to match: Wear the dark. Where Velvra is bright and soft, NOCTARE goes the other way: night, stone, smoke and amber light.

02

The bottle

We designed an original bottle rather than borrowing a famous one: a heavy block of glass with one corner cleaved off like split stone, smoked at the base and clear at the top, holding liquid amber. The cap is polished basalt with a brass band and an N monogram. Fine condensation drops sit on the glass, so it looks cold and real in the close-ups.

03

Five shots

A strip of light slides across the bottle in the dark. The camera glides low as amber light pours through the liquid. The stone cap lifts off to reveal the nozzle. Then the spray fires in extreme slow motion, a fine mist of droplets that brakes, hangs and drifts. The film ends on the bottle and cap together, and the name.

04

How it was made

Everything was modelled, lit and animated in Blender and rendered in Cycles, with the camera work and effects set up in Python. The spray is a particle simulation of tens of thousands of droplets, tuned to behave like real slow-motion footage. In post we deflickered the glass, graded it (deep blacks, amber highlights, a soft film glow) and added the end card.
